"MALDEN – This working-class city of 56,000 sports a bounty of strip malls and a downtown full of auto-repair shops and fast-food restaurants. And according to BusinessWeek magazine, it also ranks as the state's top community to raise children."

I find this great news that our area is recieving positive attention. Every city & town has it's detractors, not often enough do we read articles in prominent publications praising our area. I attribute alot of the change to the influx of new residents from other areas attracted by Malden & Medfords proximity to Boston and it's excellent public transportation options as well as the roadways for commuting. Prices have risen so high in other areas that people are looking for alternatives to higher priced communities & realizing the opportunities presented by places like Malden & Medford.

I did graduate from Medford High and yes, Malden was our rival team come Thanksgiving Day for football but I've found as many people who love Medford feel the same way for Malden. The media is soo full of doom & gloom, it's refreshing to read an uplifting story about our area. I don't think either municipality would be the worse for it if each cities residents expressed pride & competed for excellence. It's not easy in the current fiscal situation our cities, state & country find themselves in, but an enthusiasm for improvement is something that costs little.

Congratulations Malden & it's residents, you've raised the bar by which we are judged for the better.
